Thou shalt not mistake comedy for mathematics

Why can't I turn on the TV lately to watch some lighthearted comedy panel shows without Carol Vordermon's irritatingly smug face staring right back at me?

Why is it that she is even on a comedy show anyway?
I can only assume that it is because she is infact a joke.
